Exploratory Trips

Exploratory trips, new adventures and heading out into uncharted area is our forte.

In the past 25 years, Rimo has been the first till date to step foot on the Teram-Shehr Plateau in the Eastern Karakoram, entailing a 65-day expedition and climbed the virgin Padmanabh peak, coming out at the Siachen Glacier. We have explored numerous unknown valleys, untrodden glaciers and have named several unnamed virgin peaks across the Himalaya and Karakoram, thus opening opportunities for future climbing.

Rimo have also been pioneering new trekking routes, connecting valleys across the different Himalayan States, allowing travel into some of the most remote areas. Because we have the ability to make logistics work in remote places, we have been hired to conduct recovery missions in the isolated jungles of Arunachal Pradesh and other North-East Indian States by the US Defence.

Legendary climbers like Sir Chris Bonington, Jim Whittaker, Marko Prezelj, Yannick Graziani, Stephen Venables, Steve Swenson, Paulo Grobel and Harish Kapadia, as well as mountaineering teams from the The Alpine Club UK, FRCC UK,  Yorkshire Ramblers Club, Swiss Alpine Club, Japanese Alpine Club the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force consistently use Rimo's logistical support for their treks and expeditions.

As Geoff Bailey, one of our earliest clients from 25 years ago, writes: “The reason I continue to use Rimo is their ability to organise long distance treks in rather remote parts of the Himalaya. Most of my trips are 30 plus days and require[s] an experienced and competent trekking agency to make logistics work. Rimo is such a company. Their attention to detail, their extensive network of contacts and their ability to “make things happen” has always impressed me. ”
